Coaching; Triathlon & Swimming
For the last 5 weeks I’ve been giving swim stroke correction to a group of triathletes, and
I’m proud to say they have all improved. They all had different strokes, all with different problems, but like I said, I’m proud to say I have been able to help them all, and they all have been able to improve from my direction. It’s a very fulfilling job and I really enjoy it. I have found the need to achieve other things in my week besides just training. It is very motivating and refreshing to put my energy into something other than my own triathlon career, which week to week does not offer much stimulation.
Along this line I am also enjoying triathlon coaching. I did my level 1 course in 2008, and currently have only a few clients who I am coaching, but they tell me they are very happy and seeing improvements already. The first big race will be Huskinson (Long and short) and I can’t wait to see and support my team racing.
I’ve been swimming since I was a few years old and have had many different coaches, all of whom have contributed to my knowledge on technique in different ways. I also have developed my own drills, exercises, and approach to improving technique and swim efficiency which varies from person to person.
I also love passing on my knowledge that I have picked up through experience and other coaches to my triathletes. I have not had an easy road in triathlon, with many obstacles including fatigue, the rare injury (enough to have learnt from), race experience, and tri gear.
