Hi Hayley
Thanks for your article, makes good sense. It follows on from a session I attended on saturday (an Ironman training/information session with Pete Jacobs) where Darryl Griffiths spoke. It was a real eye opener for me and many others. My approach to training/race nutrition has changed totally since then. I am an old fashioned guy used to eating bananas, sandwiches & that sort of fuel but thanks to Darryl, I've seen the light and it should be a big help with the Melbourne IM in 9 weeks.
BTW, I presume your father is Ralph who I know mainly from following the footy careers of my son and Dean.
Cheers

Hey Pete,

I caught up with you when you were in Cairns during the Green Island Swim and saw firsthand the state you were in with your foot injury trying to run up the beach.

Being able to come from that and go on to set a new Kona run record (for the second time) and secure 2nd in the world ahead of some of the best long course athletes in the world is an amazing achievement.

What you’ve served up for us so far has been top quality and I looking forward to what’s coming up next.

Good luck!

Hey Pete, Beaumont.

Nice article, mate, really cool. Sometimes hard to put agony into words, I think, especially Hawaii agony.

Whenever I read IM reports by blokes hwo have great races, they strangely seem to remember the bits that go wrong, rather than the hours and hours of sustained, high level performance.

We were at a liitle duathlon in Perth when you ran into second, the crowd and athletes cheered when we told them.

Good on ya.

Congratulations again on your podium in Kona and for yet another fastest run split! Amazing. May I ask what running shoes you wore this time? Hope to see you back racing Ironman 70.3 in the Philippines next year!

By the way, I maintain a simple blog, it'll be great if I can feature you, share some tips on Ironman racing. Some of the Filipino triathletes are preparing for an irondistance race in Bohol on December 3.

Thanks and congrats again!
